Simple Lines of a Tulip

It never fails...every spring when the flowers start to bloom, I dig out my trusty Kodak DX7590 and snap pictures of every flower I encounter. One of my favorite flowers to photograph are tulips, mostly because they are strong in colour and have clean, simple lines and when you can get just the right light and a contrasting background, the effect can be quite nice. I took this photo at my husband's grandmother's birthday party and she has very beautiful gardens. After taking a few shots of the outside of the tulips I had an idea to take some shots of the inside of the tulips. I think some people at the party thought I was pretty strange going around sticking my camera lens right into all the flowers, and surprising enough the inside of tulips have some pretty neat designs!

Simple with Stick ons

I decided to work with some colours today that I usually shy away from; pink and orange! I dug out my sticky cut shapes from Stampin' Up! to try out with their chunky sprinkles. I'll admit I'm a sucker for glitter and I love the fine glitter, but it just ends up EVERYWHERE! I think my poor kitty who likes to frequent my art room has been glittering for 2 days now :) The thing I like about the chunky sprinkles is that they are so easy to clean up. For this card I used a sticky flower shape and adhered it to cardstock and then cut it out before I applied the glitter (I wanted to pop the flower up off the page) I decided to use my message as the stem in the form of rub-ons and then added a shaped spiral clip as the leaf. The great thing I liked about this card is that it took only 15 minutes to put it all together.

Trees, trees and more trees!

I don't know why, but trees are one of my favourite images to stamp. I came up with this simple design using the Trendy Trees stamp set from Stampin' Up! and colours from the 2008 In colour cardstock line. I absolutely love the new corduroy buttons from Stampin' Up!, I'm hoping there will be more colours of them in the new catalogue.

Creative Slump Unblocked

So my art room isn't exactly the way I want it, but it's clean enough to actually make something. I've finally gotten back around to making cards again, which unfortunately goes hand in hand with lack of sleep :) I just got the Upsy Daisy stamp set from Stampin' Up! and just had to try it out and this is what I came up with...

Embossed stuff never seems to get captured properly with my camera, but the flowers are embossed with black and the light blue background flowers were embossed with clear powder.

All supplies are Stampin' Up! with the exception of the rhinestones and cuttlebug embossed backgrounds.

Colour Scheme: Basic Gray, Baja Breeze, Not Quite Navy & Kiwi Kiss
