CAS-ual Fridays Challenge #72 - Toot your own horn!

Welcome back to another oh so CAS Friday with another CAS-ual Fridays challenge and what an interesting challenge we have for you this week!

We want to see your CAS projects inspired by your very own blog header! Yup, your blog header.

I recently updated my blog header showcasing a pair of my favorite earrings I made and immediately thought oh no! why did I do that? How am I supposed to make a card based on THAT??!! After much contemplation a took a step back and realized I was approaching it all the wrong way. So I simplified my thought process and brought it down to main colors and simple shapes. Here is what I came up with...

I looked at the three main colors of my header, gray, white and purple and translated that into my fave paint analogy.  I made the gray the largest amount of color so it's the gallon, the white I made the second most color, therefore the quart and the purple represented the smallest amount which is the pint. If you ever get stuck with color combos, a trio in the gallon, quart,and pint ratio work really well. Next I looked at any shapes I could incorporate and the earrings I felt would be best represented by circles which allowed me to add a little purple bling :) 

Soooo, long story short, if you find your self stumped, look at your blog header and bring it down to a trio of colors and simple shapes :)

I can't wait to go through the gallery and see how everyone draws inspiration from their blog headers, it's going to be a fun challenge!

CAS-ual Fridays Challenge #71 - Falling into Fall

I went uber CAS this week with a one layer card. A simple white card base, one leaf image repeated three times and a simple sentiment to top it off.

Market Street Stamps September Block Party

Hope everyone is enjoying their weekend! We're having a block party at Market Street Stamps this weekend and we would love to have you come and join in the fun! 

For the party I made a card using the new set "Growth" by Stephanie Washburn using an image and sentiment and one of my fave techniques, brayering.

For this card I started with a white cardstock panel and cut out a circle from a post it note for the sun. I stuck the circle to the panel and then brayered more mustard ink starting from the top. On my last layer of more mustard ink I removed the post it note to give the sun its color. Then I replaced the post it note and brayered really rust ink over top. I stamped the cat tail image twice along the bottom in really rust and filled in the cat tails with a marker the same color. The sentiment was stamped over top in black and I drew a small "V" of flying geese with a black marker. Final touch was a bit of ink sponged around the edges.

CAS-ual Fridays Challenge #70 - Black and White + One!

Welcome back to another CAS-ual Fridays Challenge! This week we're going two tone with black and white with one more color, the color of your choice :)

For my card this week I used the mushrooms from my stamp set "Nuts about Nature". I love these little mushrooms and the matching sentiment.  

The card base is embossed with a Tim Holtz embossing folder (can't remember the name). For the main panel I stamped the mushrooms, colored them with copics and then cut them out. I popped them up off the sentiment panel that I stamped first and then popped the whole panel up off the card base using foam mounts.

I love black and white cards with pops of color and can't wait to see what everyone comes up with!

CAS-ual Fridays Challenge #69 - Emboss It!

Welcome back this week for another CAS-ual Fridays challenge! This week we want to see texture in the form of embossing, whether it be dry embossing or heat embossing.

I went super simple this week with my card using the new chevron embossing folder from Stampin' Up! and a sentiment from the Great Big Greetings set from Market Street Stamps.

I embossed three different colors and put them together to make one panel. The sentiment is popped up and I added a touch of bling around it.

CAS Baby Basics - Heaven Sent

Today I have another CAS card using the stamp set Baby Basics from Market Street Stamps. You can visit the Market Street Blog here. You'll have to excuse the picture as my camera just didn't want to capture the white card very well.

I started with a white card base and added three white clouds to the top left hand corner, using a foam mount to pop one of the clouds up. Then I stamped the three different size stars and the sentiment. To finish, I faux stitched some lines from each star into the clouds and then connected the dots using a fine tip pen.

Baby Basics - Congrats Boy

I hope everyone had a great long weekend! I enjoyed a weekend of kayaking on the ocean and the weather was perfect! 

Today I have a card to share that uses my new set Baby Basics from Market Street Stamps. 

For my card I used the sail boat and two of the sentiments to make this quick and simple card.

I stamped the boat and colored it in with copic markers and then cut it out. The waves were created using a punch from EK Success. I layered a red strip of red cardstock under the blue and then tucked the boat in behind the wave. Finishing touches were a pierced border and some twine.
