CAS(E) this Sketch Challenge #58

Just under a week until Christmas and I think I'm almost done my Christmas list of homemade gifts, just my cards to finish. Here's a perfect sketch to try this week at CAS(E) this Sketch for a Christmas card.

I came across this pretty silver gift bag and decided to use it on my card for the sentiment, which is a die cut. I was going to put a poinsettia on it, but the texture on the sentiment (there are small circles if you look close enough) seemed to lean to a more contemporary card so I went with textured white circles instead.

You have 3 weeks to play this challenge, we'll be back again on January 9th. Enjoy your holidays!

CAS(E) this Sketch Challenge #57

Only 13 days left until Christmas and if you still need to make your Christmas cards, the CAS(E) this Sketch Challenge has great sketches to use, check out the one for this week!

I'm so excited about the card I made for this week as I discovered a perfect die for some more manly cards this Christmas...deer. Now dies are not something I ever really got into, but I have been buying a few lately and have grown very fond of them, especially silhouette dies. Here is what I came up with for this week.

We would love to have you play along with this week, lots of great inspiration
from the design team this week!
Thanks for stopping by and have a great day!

CAS(E) this Sketch Challenge #56

It is hard to believe that there is only 20 days until Christmas and I haven't even begun by Christmas shopping yet! However I do have some of my Christmas cards made thanks to the CAS(E) this Sketch Challenge, check out the sketch for this week.

I had lots of fun stampy ideas for this sketch, but time was a limiting factor this week as I have been making jewelry like crazy for a show this weekend, so I dug into my patterned paper stash and found these festive snowflakes. If I had of located my snowflake die (if you saw my art room you'd understand why I can't find it lol) I think a snowflake would have looked cute at the tip of the triangle beside the sentiment.

Thanks for stopping by today and have a great week!

Guest spot on Paper Crafter's Library

Well, we had a storm blow through here last night and we lost power, of course right in the middle of typing my post up, but better late than never!
Today I have some exciting news to share...I am a featured designer over at the Paper Crafter's Library! You must go check out this site! There is a wealth of information over there and all kinds of designers to get to know. I have a little bio blurb over there and here is a sneak peek of my card project. CAS(E) this Sketch Challenge #55

The challenge this week over at CAS(E) this Sketch will stretch over two weeks for the American Thanksgiving. So you'll have some extra time to play with the sketch from this challenge, check it out...

I'm trying to get as many Christmas cards in as I can and I had such fun playing with the washi tape the other week that I decided to use it again. Here is my simple card using washi tape and some simple stamps from my stamp line.

The design team would love to have you play along this week, I for one am looking for some more Christmas card inspiration :)

CAS(E) this Sketch Challenge #54

We had our first small snowfall the other night and it automatically put me in a Christmas mood, so of course I had to make a winter theme/Christmas card using this lovely sketch at the CAS(E) this Sketch Challenge.

I delved into my patterned paper stash again and drudged up a snowflake die that I was trying to get rid of (think I will be keeping it now). Here's my simple card I came up with a bit of sparkle using glitter.

The hardest part about this card was finding a sentiment that fit into the snowflake :) We would love to have you play along with us this week, I'm sure there will be lots of great ideas for this sketch!
Thanks for stopping by and have a great day!

CAS(E) this Sketch Challenge #53

Welcome to the first sketch in November with the CAS(E) this Sketch challenge, check out the fun sketch to try this week...

I have recently discovered washi tape (I know I am a bit behind on the trends lol) and I couldn't think of a better card to use it on. Using two different width tapes and colours I made a simple Christmas card. I do believe if I made this one again I would go in search of a more "modern" Merry Christmas instead the the curly sentiment I chose.

Thanks for stopping by and we hope you can join us this week to play along :)

Have a great day!

CAS(E) this Sketch Challenge #52

Happy Hallowe'en! We have a great sketch for you to play along with on this spook-ta-cular CAS(E) this Sketch challenge day, check it out...

Some of you may already know that I am not a patterned paper person at all, yet I have piles and piles of it in my art room. I broke down and attempted to use some of my Hallowe'en paper. Let's just say I'm not going to be using any patterned paper anytime soon as I discovered as before I find it very hard to incorporate into a design *sigh* Back to my plain jane cardstock for me next week :)

We would love to have you play along with us this week!

CAS(E) this Sketch #51

It's hard to believe we're almost at the end of October already! There's a great sketch by N@ Ali over at CAS(E) this Sketch with some fun and simple clustered elements going on, check it out...

I find I have a hard time wrapping my head around collage styles, so I tried to translate it as best I could. I'm stuck in Hallowe'en groove for a while until it passes, so of course I went with that theme again this week. I kept the orientation of the card the same, but I flipped all the elements to the top so the plane image would be pointing down. The spider represents the plane, the string of jewels the banner and the post mark became my sentiment. Just for an extra spidery depth, I embossed a web in white on the card base and inked a bit of black to make it stand out a bit.

The design team would love to have you play along this week and be sure to come back next week on Hallowe'en to play another round!

Thanks for stopping by and have a great crafty day!

CAS(E) this Sketch Challenge #50

Thanksgiving here in Canada has come and gone so now I have moved onto creating Hallowe'en cards for the rest of this month and what a great sketch for a Hallowe'en card at CAS(E) this Sketch!

Last week I had a card that featured a favourite game of ghosts in the dark, it was a very simple and quick card. This week I may be pushing the boundaries of "clean and simple", but I do love a good inking session with my brayer once and awhile. I kept it as a two layer card with all stamping and inking and it only took 5 minutes more to make than my usual 10 minutes :)

I had been eyeing this stamp for 2 years now, never been inked. I did want to run a sentiment across the focal as in the sketch, but I couldn't bring myself to cover the cute haunting scene. I used a cut out post it note for the moon before a brayered the background. Extra ink was sponged on the edges and over the moon for clouds and then I just stamped the whole image over the moon. Final detail was added some colour to the pumpkin and going in with a black marker to fill in the trees a bit.
The design team would love to have you play along again this week, it's always fun going through the gallery and seeing what everyone comes up with!

CAS(E) this Sketch Challenge #49

Okay, so my card this week for the CAS(E) this Sketch Challenge has a story to it, but before I get into that, check out the fun sketch for this week...

Now usually I have to sit and ponder what I am going to make for my card because nothing ever pops right into my head, but for this sketch it did. The first thing that popped into my head was three ghosts in the dark, nothing showing but eyes, getting ready to scare someone with the classic BOO! However 2 of the ghosts decide to play a different game and the third one is just...well...confused. Why this was the first thing that popped into my head, I don't know, but that's what I went with :)

We would love to have you play along with us this week, so be sure to stop over to the CAS(E) this Sketch blog and join in on the fun!

Thanks for stopping by and have a fabulous crafty day!

CAS(E) this Sketch Challenge #48

October is here and the leaves are absolutely gorgeous here in a riot of reds, oranges and yellows! There is a great sketch over at CAS(E) this Sketch this week, one of which I can see myself using for my Christmas cards this year.

My last fall card for awhile is a simple woodgrain card base with simple leaves in the colours elegant eggplant, crushed curry and cherry cobbler.

We love seeing the gallery filled with gorgeous cards each week, so come on over and play along!

CAS(E) this Sketch Challenge #47

Wow September went by fast! This is the last sketch for this month over at the CAS(E) this Sketch Challenge, check out the fun sketch to play with this week from Chrissy Larson!

Bear with me as I have another fall themed card. I have an ulterior motive for making my cards fall themed these past couple of weeks because I figure by the time the Canadian Thanksgiving holiday rolls around on the 14th of October I will have enough cards to give out for the occasion and then I promise I will move onto Hallowe'en :) This week I dug out a stamp set that I designed for Market Street Stamps called Fall-o-ween, it had just the perfect itty bitty leaves for what I had in mind.

There is lots of great inspiration from the design team, so be sure to check the CAS(E) this Sketch blog and play along with us this week!

CAS(E) this Sketch Challenge #46

The weather is starting to cool here and some of the leaves have already started to turn some pretty autumnal shades and this week's sketch over at CAS(E) this Sketch was perfect for a fall card, check out Karolyn Loncon's sketch.

I stamped the small panel with leaves in the same colour and then added the small banner with the sentiment with pop dots and a small library clip for an added touch. I finished off the edges by inking them and adding faux stitching to the card base.

The design team would love to have you play along with us this week!

Welcome back to another fun sketch week at CAS(E) this Sketch! Check out this lovely sketch by N@ Ali, so many possibilities with this sketch.

I rotated the sketch for my card and with the Canadian Thanksgiving holiday coming up in a month I figured I better get started on my cards. Using  just stamps and ink I made this one layer card.

I first stamped the leaves in three different colours and then stamped the outlines in a dark brown colour. After that dried, I went back in with the leaf prints and stamped off the ink a couple times before stamping on the card to fill in the areas between the leaves. Final step was a simple sentiment stamped in black.
We would love to have you play along with us this week and there is some great inspiration from the DT this week!

Witching you a Happy Hallowe'en

Well I think my card mojo is starting to slowly return, as this is my first time making a card in a long time other than my cards for my design team CAS(E) this Sketch. I think it has a lot to do with the fact that my art room is finally super clean and I can find everything :)

The card I am sharing today is super simple, one layer card using one of my stamps sets I designed for Market Street Stamps. The set is called Witching Hour and it has a mix of simple witchy shapes and punny sayings.

I stamped the sentiment first in black and then stamped the hat three times directly above in Rich Razzleberry, Pumpkin Pie and Old Olive. A CAS card in under 10 minutes! I think I may just use this one as my Hallowe'en card to pass out this year.

Thanks for stopping by and have a great crafty day!

Welcome to the first week with our new CAS(E) this Sketch Challenge designers! We have another fun sketch for you to try this week, check it out!

After cleaning out my art room this week I found some stamping tools that I haven't used in awhile, one being my stamp-a-ma-jig. I love this tool because you get perfect placement every time when stamping. Here is what I came up with using a mix of Stampin' Up! stamps and a Market Street Stamp sentiment.

We would love for you to stop by the blog and play along! Be sure to check out the inspiration from our new designers too.

CAS(E) this Sketch Challenge #43

Well August is almost over and I made my first Christmas card for the season on Tuesday, I guess it it time to get started on those:) In the meantime we have a sketch for you to try out this week at CAS(E) this Sketch, check it out...

It's been a race around here to see how much of my pattern paper scraps I can use up and that is what I did with this card. I found some coordinating papers and made this quick card with a stamped flower on patterned paper.

Be sure to stop by the blog to check out all the inspiration and then play along with us this week!

CASE(E) this Sketch Challenge #42

It's hard to believe in just two short weeks my baby girl will be starting grade 11! The years are just flying by and so are the sketch challenge weeks over at CAS(E) this Sketch! Check out the new sketch we have for you this week...

Isn't that sentiment speech bubble fun?! I am loving the new in colours for Stampin' Up!, especially the trio of baked brown sugar, crisp cantaloupe and pistachio pudding. I know Valentine's Day is a loooong ways off, but that is what the colour combo made me think of, so I went with a love card :)

We would love to have you come play along with us this week. Stop by the blog to check us out and then play along!

CAS(E) this Sketch Challenge #41

Welcome back to another sketchy week with us at CAS(E) this Sketch! This week we have a great sketch for you to try from Chrissy Larson, check it out!

I've been slowly breaking in all my new stamp sets and this is another new Stampin' Up! set I got for a hostess gift. This card was super easy! I stamped the image on the card base with the same colour ink as the card and then stamped the sentiment box/label and sentiment on white, cut around the image and popped it up with foam mounts.

Thanks for stopping by and we hope you will stop by the blog and play along with us this week!

I hope everyone is having a great summer so far! I finally got out kayaking on the ocean, so my summer is complete now :) This week we have a fun sketch for you to try over at CAS(E) this Sketch by Karolyn Loncon!

I was going to go with the obvious and do a flower on the panel, but I just got a cute Stampin' Up! set and went with a plane instead. The sentiment is from Market Street Stamps.

We would love to have you play along with us this week!

CAS(E) this Sketch Challenge #38

This is our last sketch challenge for the month of July over at CAS(E) this Sketch, check out the last sketch for this month!

I had so many ideas for this sketch, but I ended up going with the idea that would enable me to dig into my stash of supplies and use some products up. I found some SRM stickers and made this simple baby girl card using just five products; stickers, stamp, ink, cardstock and foam mounts. Five products and five minutes, gotta love a CAS and under five minute card :)

CAS(E) this Sketch Challenge #36

We have a great sketch for you to try this week at CAS(E) this Sketch, perfect opportunity to try out clustering some different elements together, check it out.

I skipped the banner part on my card because I wanted to use big letters for my sentiment. It turned out to be a very simple card with just cardstock, an embossing folder, sticker letters, some rhinestones and a resin flower.

CAS(E) this Sketch Challenge #35

Happy Independence Day to my American friends! This week we have a fun sketch for you to try over at CAS(E) this Sketch, perfect sketch to use paint, smooch spritz or anything else you think will splatter...

I used my splatter tool from Stampin' Up! with markers to add some colour to the background and I got to try out my new stamp set this week too. They have this neat set called "Tape It" and if you stamp the images on vellum paper and cut them out, they look like washi tape!

The design team would love to have you play along this week!
Thanks for stopping by and have a great day!
