Less is More Challenge #321

Two posts in one day! I just had to play along with the Less is More challenge after finding a window frame die tucked away amongst some other unfound treasures. The challenge is to use a frame!

I dug out my brayer for this card and I really missed using it (although it can get quite messy). It still looks like winter here, so I used that for my inspiration.

I brayered a single colour for the background and then stamped my scene stamp over top. The window frame is popped up using foam dots to give a bit of dimension. Finishing touch is a simple, stamped sentiment.

Thanks for stopping by and have a great weekend!

Paper Players Challenge #337

I hadn't realized that March has almost slipped by which means there are a bunch birthdays just around the corner in my family and I don't have any birthday cards! Usually I wait until the last minute to make one, but decided to get ahead of the game with inspiration from the Paper Players. Check out the sketch this week...

Using a new die I got from Paper Smooches, I came up with this idea for my Mom's birthday card...

I dug through my patterned paper stash and found a few papers that coordinated with cardstock colours I had on hand. The rose panel is embossed with a Stampin' Up! folder called "Modern Mosaic". For the rose I cut one in white and then another in green and patterned paper and then pieced the rose back together.

Thanks for stopping by and have a great week!

Fab Friday Challenge #108

Today I came across a card challenge that had Stampin' Up! colours, which just so happens to be my primary source of cardstock and inks! I couldn't resist digging out a Stampin' Up! stamp set and playing along with Fab Friday.

I decided to use a stamp set that I haven't tried yet, so I pulled out Painted Petals and came up with this...

I ended up going a little skimpy on the so saffron colour. In hindsight, I would have either made the card base that colour or stamped the row of dots in that colour, but I guess my lone yellow flower will have to suffice 😊

I did masking with a post-it-note for the flowers and stamped two of them a second time to cut out and pop up using foam dots.
Thanks for stopping by and have a great day!

Painted Petals Card

Sentiment and a Sketch

Today I have combined two challenges for my card; Fusion Card Challenge and CAS on Sunday. For the Fusion Card Challenge you can use the sketch or the inspiration photo or both and the challenge at CAS on Sunday is "sentiment"; use only a sentiment and no images.

I used the sketch part of the Fusion challenge and I flipped the sketch so I did a mirror opposite of it. I maybe "over" thought the sentiment challenge because I got to thinking about patterned paper and thought, wait, are the designs on the paper not images and if I use a splattering technique with ink, would that not create an image? After pondering that for a good 10 minutes, I decided to steer clear of patterned paper or anything like it and stick to plain ol' cardstock.

I glued 3 layers of the die cut word "love" and then stamped the you. The red panel is raised with foam dots and I did a quick pierced row around the red edge.

Thanks for stopping by and have a great Sunday!

A little card making time!

After tackling my art studio this past week, I can finally see my whole countertop (I'm ignoring the very end that is full of odds and ends at the moment). Clean space means a place to actually be able to create something. So, today I am playing along with 2 challenges; The Paper Players and CASE this Sketch!

I'm not really big on making baby cards, but I like the images and I think I only own maybe two baby stamp sets. I always seem to forget about the stamp sets I created for Market Street Stamps and it dawned on me that one of my sets is a baby theme! Here is what I came up with using the teddy bear stamp from the set...

I stamped the bear, coloured it with copics and then masked over the bear and used the negative space  of a circle die cut to sponge in pink around the bear. The banner is a die cut and I popped it up with foam dots attached to a bit of bakers twine. Final step was the stamped stars and a quick embossed frame around the card edge.

Thanks for stopping by and have a great crafty weekend!

A few challenges in the mix

I finally received my Stampin' Up! order (which I haven't ordered from in a while), and tried out their new (well, new to me) thick white card stock. I LOVE IT! I had run out of white card stock and was stamping on white computer paper that just wasn't cutting it, but this stuff stamps beautifully. I couldn't resist playing along with this week's one layer challenge over at the Less is More Challenge. It just so happens that my card has a smidge of green too, so I figured I'd enter in the March Paper Smooches Challenge as well.

Here is my simple one layer card...

This card was super simple! I stamped the leaf in a circle so I was left with just enough of an open space to stamp the sentiment. I used a blender pen with a bit of the green ink to fill in any gaps in the stamps that I may have missed from not stamping close enough in the circle. To finish it off I used a corner rounder.

Thanks for stopping and hope you have a productive art filled week!

Thanks Leaf Card

Tag You're It! Challenge #67

Today's project is on a smaller scale than a regular card...a tiny tag! I love working on tiny canvases and when they are CAS, they're very quick! I made my tag for the "Tag You're It! Challenge", where you make a tag inspired by the work of the featured artist. This week's tag is by Marion Vagg, check it out...

I was inspired by the tag shape, the dies/punches, the boxed sentiment, the thin ribbon and the slight off the edge element with the dies/punches. I couldn't work my idea into a vertical tag, so I flipped it horizontally.

The whole red bird paired with black and white is one of my favourite colour combos and if I remember correctly I made a card quite a few years ago that had red birds too.
I used a mix of stamps and dies to create the tag and did some faux stitching along the edge with a black journaling pen.

Thanks for stopping by and happy creating!

Sunday Stamps Challenge

Today I found this fabulous colour challenge over at Sunday Stamps! Isn't this a great colour combo?!

I dug through my paper stash and found as close to the colours as I could expect for that lovely green- blue colour, I couldn't find anything remotely close. I substituted a teal colour in its place so I could finish the card design I had in mind. I'm still on my Paper Smooches stamp kick, so I grabbed the set I already had out on my craft table from a previous project and stamped away!

I stamped a leaf image on 1 3/4" squares with the same ink hue as the paper and used the corner rounder on 2 of the corners. I finished the edge of the squares and the edge of the card base with a stitch marker tool and made faux stitching on the card base with a zig writer. The squares are popped up with the foam dots.

Thanks for stopping by! Have a fabulous colour filled day!

CAS on Sunday Challenge #103

Today I stumbled upon another challenge blog called CAS on Sunday, so I figured I'd give it a whirl.
The theme is "umbrella" and my first thought was uh-oh! Do I even have an umbrella stamp? After digging through my entire stamp collection (which took a very long time), I managed to come up with 3 umbrella images. They weren't exactly what I had in mind, but you gotta work with what you got! I'm pretty sure I stamped those umbrella images every which way possible and with every colour under the sun and I couldn't pull off anything I was remotely happy with. I think my problem was I was trying out different techniques and expecting something fabulous to come of the first try...yeah, right 😑 So after making a mess, I went back to tried and true which lately for me seems to be one layer cards.

A simple white card base with a little paper piecing, stamped sentiments and a hand doodled border. It doesn't get much simpler than that!

Thanks for stopping by and hope you have a great creative day!

Less is More Colour Challenge #318

Today I'm playing along with a challenge that I have never tried before, the Less is More Colour Challenge!

Teal just happens to be one of my favourite colours and I knew I had some products that hadn't been touched in a while in this particular colour. Here is what I came up with...

I wanted the focal to be the sentiment, so I paired some simple words from the stamp set "Chit Chat" and paired it with a leaf silhouette from the stamp set "Reflections"; both by Paper Smooches. I used an ink colour that is no longer available from Stampin' Up! called "taken with teal" to stamp the images and words.

The double layered panel is popped up from the card base using foam dots.
Thanks for stopping by and have a fabulous art filled day!

Bugs + Kisses = Sickness

Today's card was inspired by my darling hubby and the latest Paper Smooches Challenge for the month of March - Greenery! My theme and the colour couldn't have fit better!

Don't get me wrong, I love my hubby, but when it comes to sharing germs I'd prefer he kept them to himself 😑 Needless to say it hasn't been a very fun week, besides the little energy I've had to make a few cards! Here is my buggy little card...

My thoughts were Bugs + Kisses = Sickness

I stamped all the images and coloured them in with copic markers. I had to do a little stamp tweaking to come up with an equal sign, but it worked. I finished the inside with a simple sentiment and emoji that seemed quite appropriate for how I was feeling about getting sick lol

Thanks for stopping by and I hope you enjoyed my little buggy card!

CAS(E) this Sketch and CAS-ual Fridays Challenge

Today I'm posting a CAS card to two different challenges; CAS(E) this Sketch and CAS-ual Fridays!

I really like one layer cards, they seem to be my go to style when it comes to stamping. I've been slowly digging out stamps that I haven't even used yet and came across this tree set from Stampin' Up!

This was a simple and fun card to make, just a few stamps and ink and a little scoring around the edges to finish it off.

Thanks for stopping by and have a great crafty day!
